Improvisation Course 4

MODES

Ok, by now you should be familiar with the Sound and the elements of a major game. I will try to keep explanations as to topic, the most important is to learn ways to apply.
The blog is already a range of course information about major modes. To deepen the lesson that visit.
We still use the example of major C range, which has the notes:
C D E F G A B C
If you start on any other note range out of C we get a new range, with intervals arranged differently from major range. In total we get seven combinations of game - we call them major range modes.
Each major mode of the range has a name which derives from the Greek language (eg C major range):
on step 1 - C D E F G A B C - Ionianon stage 2 - D E F G A B C D - Dorianon stage 3 - E F G A B C D E - Phrygianon step 4 - F G A B C D E F - Lidianon step 5 - G A B C D E F G - Mixolidianon step 6 - A B C D E F G A - Eolianon stage 7 - B C D E F G A B - Locrian
As a small sum, range C major modes are:
C IonianD DorianE PhrygianF LidianG MixolidianA EolianB Locrian
Ok, now I have to go back to pattern 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1 I talked about the lessons of the past and which I said that we will use as "standard." The idea is that we can learn other ways as six slightly modified version of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1 (which is the major / Ionian). I hope to give an explanation as efficient, ie, in C major things are like this:
CDEFGABC is 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (Ionian - standard)DEFGABCD is February 1 b3 4 5 6 b7 8 (Dorian - 3 and 7 small)EFGABCDE is 1 b2 b3 b6 b7 8 May 4 (Frisian - 2, 3, 6, 7 small)FGABCDEF is # 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (Lidian - 4 enlarge)GABCDEFG is 1 2 3 4 5 6 b7 8 (Mixolidian - 7 small)ABCDEFG is February 1 April 5 b3 b6 b7 8 (Eolian - 3, 6, 7 small)Is 1 b2 b3 4 BCDEFGAB b5 b6 b7 8 (Locrian - 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 small)
TIP - from Michibass:
"We took some ways as a derivative of a range of major / minor, to be more easily viewed, at least for me it was.
Thus:
Dorian = Minor (natural) with large sextant= Minor Phrygian with small secondLidian seven semitones = majorSmall Mixolodian = major seventhLocrian = minor seconds and fifths lowered small
I like to imprint in my mind easier. "

Ok, now let's apply some of the above. Let's analyze a little Dorian mode:
February 1 4 5 6 b7 1 b3
Both 3 and 7 are "descended" to fit the pattern of ranges Dorian mode.
It is very important to understand this mechanism. We will always apply in future lessons
Now let the note to form Dorian C.
First write specific cifrajul dorian mode: 1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7 1, then notes: CD Eb FGA Bb C
Notice that 3 and 7 of the notes E and B correspond cifraj, which had altered down. Such notes have become Eb and Bb.Now let's form the C major modes, applying cifrajele above.
C Ionian - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1 = C D E F G A B CC Dorian - 1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7 1 = CD Eb FGA Bb CC Phrygian - 1 b2 b3 b6 b7 May 4 1 = C Db Eb FG Ab Bb CC Mixolidian - 1 2 3 4 5 6 b7 1 = Bb C CDEFGAC Eolian - 1 2 b3 b6 b7 1 April 5 = CD Eb FG Ab Bb CC Locrian - 1 b2 b3 4 b5 b6 b7 1 = C Db Eb F Gb Ab Bb C
Modes can be studied in many ways on the bass, are tons of exercises for this game. I will not insist on this now. I will present only a series of simple digitatii an octave for a slight familiarity with the sonority of ways.

THEME

The theme of this lesson is very interesting ... bass patterns played on each game from the list below.

C major (C D E F G A B C)
F major (F G A Bb C D E F)
Bb major (Bb C D Eb F G Bb)
Eb major (Eb F G Ab Bb C D Eb)
Ab major (Ab Bb C Db Eb F G Ab)
Db major (Db Eb F Gb Ab Bb C Db)
Gb major (Gb Ab Bb Cb Db Eb F Gb)
B major (B C # D # E F # G # A # B)
E major (E F # G # A B C # D # E)
A major (A B C D E F # G # # A)
D major (D E F # G A B C # D)
G major (G A B C D E F # G)

For example, G major, you have to sing these ways, in this order:

1 - G Ionian
2 - A Dorian
3 - B Phrygian
4 - C Lidian
5 - D Mixolidian
6 - E Eolian
7 - F # Locrian

HINT - It is very important to learn their name and number in the range of modes (eg Lidian is mode 4).
